#104 and #105 - Zentangle Challenge #34

These are for Zentangle Challenge #34: "Opposites Attract". The point was, to draw one string with curvy lines and tangle it with straight lines; then draw one string with straight lines and tangle it with curvy lines.

Well, the curvy-string-straight-tangles is how I do 90% of my Zentangling anyway, so that way was easy. The other way was more difficult. I just don't have enough good curvy patterns that I like and am good at. The one above it actually the second one I started, because on the first I made such a botch of the Keeko that I had to toss it.

Anyway, I like how the shading worked out (I'm getting better, slowly...) and I LOVE how nice the frame looks! I did it by trimming down the white pieces a 1/16 of an inch all around and gluing it to a pre-cut black ATC. I think I'll never make an "unframed" one again...

  1. These both turned out great. You did fine with your curvy patterns and I like your frames.

  2. I recently framed a Zentangle I did. It *does* make a difference, doesn't it! The Zentangles are lovely even without them.

  3. Looks like everyone is trying both way, so I definitely need to go back to the drawing board and finish up! Love both of these!

  4. I like them both and I agree that the black frame is a positive addition. Coincidently, I left the black mat I used to photograph my two on around them when cropping them in photoshop tonight. And, I really liked the way they looked with that black around the edges after I posted them. I think it brings out the tangle itself.

  5. The framing is very nice. It's funny how some people are more drawn to either one or the other for straight vs. curvy tangles. I'm the opposite of you, I think. But I love yours!

  6. I only did a circular with angular tangles, I was trying to do the opposite but not as pleased with the results - yours look really good and I am a believer in framing them for ATCs - the black makes it pop! I also like that shading, I haven't done it at all, not sure where to start (lol). But I love seeing the effect other's creations!

  7. Beautiful ATC's. I bought some of those but have yet to try them out. You have inspired me to get my butt movin!
